EYE CARE PROGRAM

Saving Sight. Preventing Avoidable Blindness

Our eye-care program focuses on early identification, education, basic screening, appropriate referral and access to services.

Reading Glasses

Many adults and elderly people experience difficulty reading because of presbyopia.

Where appropriate, our teams provide or facilitate access to reading glasses following basic vision assessment.

Cataract Referral

Cataracts are a major cause of avoidable visual impairment.

Our teams seek to :

  1. Identify people with possible cataracts.
  2. Educate patients and families.
  3. Refer patients to appropriate eye-care facilities.
  4. Follow up where possible.
  5. Support patients in navigating referral pathways.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma can cause permanent vision loss and may progress without obvious symptoms.

Our outreach promotes:

  • Glaucoma awareness
  • Eye screening
  • Early identification of people at risk
  • Appropriate referral
  • Follow-up education

Important : Outreach screening does not replace comprehensive examination by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
